志古谷が熊野川と合流するところある社殿のない神社です。前弧海盆に堆積した熊野層群の上部層の厚い砂岩層が崩壊してできた、山腹の巨岩群を祀っています。熊野炭田の石炭層がずれていることから、この付近を東西方向に断層が通ると推定されていて、この断層に沿って崩壊が起った可能性があります。

It enshrines the giant rocks on the hillside formed by the collapse of the thick sandstone layer in the upper part of the Kumano Group deposited in the forearc basin. Since the coal seam of the Kumano coalfield is displaced, it is estimated that a fault will pass in the east-west direction around this area, and it is possible that a collapse occurred along this fault.
