赤木川の河岸にある社殿のない神社です。社殿のない神社は、南紀熊野にある聖域の特徴のひとつです。熊野層群の厚い砂岩層が崩壊してできた、河岸の巨石群を祀っています。この厚い砂岩層は、前弧海盆に堆積した熊野層群の上部層の砂岩層です。大正末期頃、日足の高倉神社に合祀されました。
