近代鉱業以前のものと思われる抗道口、製錬所跡、鉱滓の堆積場が、尻剣谷左岸に残っています。鉱石製錬に用いられた焼き窯は上下2段10基の計20基が整然と並び、その上流側にも2段4基の焼き窯の跡があります。豊臣秀吉の『天正通宝』に那智の銅が献上されたという記録が、今日に残る最初記録です。
