砂岩に刻まれた行書体と草書体の2つの一遍上人名号碑があります。地震に伴って破損したと記録され、行書体碑は流紋岩（石英斑岩）の石材で取り囲んで補修されています。草書体碑には補修を試みたとみられる流紋岩（石英斑岩）の修復摩崖石があり、伊勢路を600mほど下ったところに残ります。伊勢路を1kmほど下ったところには砂岩の巨大転石の摩崖石があり、一遍上人名号碑の写が残ります。
Priest Ippen's Stone Monuments
There are two sandstone monuments along the Kumano pilgrimage route Iseji, between Shiko and the
Banze-Toge pass. It was said that the priest Ippen, a founder of one of the sects of Buddhism,
engraved Buddha's name on these two sandstone monuments. It is recorded that they were damaged by
an earthquake, and later repaired using rhyolite in the Edo Period.
