嶋津の筏師の道

北山川流域は高い技量をもつ筏師で知られ、熊野川河口まで筏を流した後、山間部の集落まで戻る筏師の道がありました。嶋津では北山川の中洲に筏師の道が良く残るとともに、筏師の道が板屋断層の上を通っています。板屋断層は竜神付加体と熊野層群の地質境界になっていて、両者には5000万年を超える時間の隔たりがあります。 The Kitayama River basin is known for the highly skilled raftsmen, who had ways to return rafts to mountain villages after guiding the rafts down to the mouth of the Kumano River. In Shimazu, the paths of the raftsmen remain present in Nakasu in the Kitayama river, and also pass over the Itaya Fault. The Itaya Fault is the geological boundary between the Ryujin Accretionary Prism and the Kumano Group.
